Bucharest 53-7

April 11, 2008

on the road again. For 3 days in Bucharest, what a city! traffic is a nightmare even worse as Athens which I thought is impossible!

But, on the other hand, very nice people, very nice food (did you ever try cow stomach soup?) and also the local schnaps is nice…although the next day you get a headache of this Romanian “water” 🙂

The hotel was a 4 star residence which was very good and even had FOC WiFi. Actually he first wanted to charge me €10,- per day but when he gave me the network key which was 10 x zero he must have realized that this is complete crap. so at the end there was nothing on my bill and I could log in every day with this key.

Of course also in good hotels in Romania they know how the hang the paper and therefore the count now goes to 53-7 🙂

and here the proof

another funny one, don’t ask me what it is about but I liked it. 🙂

Hoofdorp NH-Hotel 52-7

March 31, 2008

well another week on the road, this time in Hoofdorp near the Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands.

I love NH Hotels, great rooms, lovely people and of course the paper is hanging right. I’m here with Edo but I guess he wil not post this one also as that would be cheating to count, then of course in such a nice hotel they know how to hang the paper 🙂

Eisenach 51-7

March 25, 2008

Couple of days vacation visiting friends near Hamburg and then we went down to Eisenach (city of Luther and Bach) My daughter wanted to see the Wartburg (lovely stone old castle and world heritage) so I thought I choose a nice hotel which was from 1700 something which was the best choice I could get as it also had a lovely restaurant which served the food in old style, meaning that you drink the soup without a spoon and the pottery drinks are put into a hole in the table as they cannot stand by themselve.

of course in such a nice place they also know how to hang the paper correctly.

Athens 50-7

March 19, 2008

what a lovely experience, never been before in Greece and now I get every thing on top of me which you think/believe about Greece without being there before… 🙂

so it started with a taxi driver who ripped me off by taking €40 for a 10 Min drive from the airport to the Holiday Inn. The reception called the police and we’ll see if something happens (presumably not) 5,5 hours later ( I arrived at 01:30 and went to bed at 02:30) I was waked up be the alarm as my partner wanted to pick me up at 09:00. Second lesson in Greece…they say 09:00 and mean 10:00 🙂

then going to the company and seeing tons of garbage in the streets….General Strike in Athens.

The open House started at 11:00 hours and no customer came, my partner told me that all customers will come after 17:00 hours. my reply was, why do we start at 11:00 hours to which he replied we did this for the public sector but unfortunately they are on strike 🙂

then at 20:00 hours the electricity cmpany decided it was time to join the strike and shut down the electricity…and that was the end of the Open House… and that was the 3rd lesson 🙂

so then we went to dinner and I got loaded with 345KG of meat, gorgious, lovely but it didn’t stop and after that the sweets came which I never eat and they insisted I had to try it…Oooh my god…3 more KG after this trip…

looking forward to the food tomorrow…noon will be Mousaka and the  evening will be meat again… lesson 4, great hospitality.

what else, yes Edo asked for the challenge and gave it a try as I thought that he made one mistake. He took a picture of the door know and I said to myself, this is no LOO, so I made a picture of the flush know with me in it 🙂

Last but not least, just for the sake of it, of course Holiday Inn knows how to hang the paper…also in Greece 🙂

The lazy Italian finally decided to introduce himself to this blog.

I have been collecting pictures in the last few months…
I will start digging and I am sure I will slowly find them.
Let’s start with this one. Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel and Towers.
Classy hotel. Paper could not hang any other way than the correct way. 😀

Toilet paper in Bangkok...

And anyway, I am sure people wonder what goes on behind the scenes of this fabolous blog…
Call it self portrait if you like. Now I dare all the other authors of this blog to do the same. 😀

after the crappy Van der Valk I stayed this time at the Dorint Hotel in Schiphol which is an excellent hotel….BUT….driving through this country is a bloody nightmare. It took me 2 hours to drive from Den Bosch to Amsterdam (80KM)….bloody ridiculous. Yesterday back to Germany which took 3hours 19min which wasn’t bad but to reach this I had to leave at 1900 hours…

whatever, the paper was hanging correctly 🙂

sometimes your proud of being Dutch, sometimes you hate it….  today I hate it, crap van der Valk hotel in Vught, we all know it, these hotels are worn out, so finally they decide to refurbish them…right, just when I’m there. PAINFULL!!! Then the discussions about me wanting the company name on the invoice (we need that for the stupid German tax authorities) then my room is not inside the hotel but I have to go outside again and walk have the parking lot to find out that I’m in the wrong complex…she told me the left building but it was the right building…I should have known that ALL women have problems with left and right. Then she tells me that she doesn’t have any rooms left with WLAN but “funny funny I do have a room for you” … Yeah, really funny ! Somebody should tell het that modern laptops have strong WLAN cards and can find a Hotspot even when far away. Coming to the room and thinking to myself “if the paper hangs wrong, I’m gonna start a massacre in this hotel”

BUT, at least made me happy again, it hangs correct and the count is now to 47-7

If now Frits (who doesn’t have to worry about his pass anymore) would send some nice additional results from Melbourne I would be extremely happy 🙂

still in Tel Aviv

February 29, 2008

as mentioned before, I had an impressive tour to Jerusalem and although I would consider myselve as 10000% non religic it did touch me…

so much on acient history and all the religions ruling the grave of Jezus + the fact that next to these also the arabs living/fighting for this city and crossing the same streets as the christians and ortodox jews is something you’ll never forget.

unfortunately I told my wife about this tour and as she is a catholic religion teacher who dreams of going to Jerusalem her whole live you can guess that her reactions about my visit – knowing that I normally refuse to walk long distances (we did a 3,5 hour walk) and also persistantly refusing to enter any church (max 2 visits per year and now we walked into 4 or 10 depending on how you’ll count based on the various religions ruling within the same church) – were not very pleasant or more like I’ll kill you.

She wouldn’t do it but when she gives me a reaction in a single word which is “aha” trust me, you know that you are dead meat 🙂

as we walked the route of Jezus we had to take this picture of me. 🙂

Tel Aviv……47-7 or 46-8

February 28, 2008

you may decide as this hotel in Herzliya decided to hang the paper sidewards 😦

presumably they wanted to hang it correctly but forgotten how it goes 🙂

anyhow, lovely weather down here and had an impressive visit to Jerusalem.

Langenhagen 46-7

February 21, 2008

Yep, back in town (Langenhagen near Hanover)

The Holiday Inn and Maritim (both Airport) were full so the put me in the Ambiente. Nice Hotel, very friendly people and WLAN for €5,- per day (not FOC but pretty close 🙂 )

well, off course this hotel also knows what’s the correct way to ahng the paper….. 🙂

come on Alex, where is the response?
